NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) requested a Covid-19 inoculation bus for the NHS in Devon.
NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group are the organisation responsible for planning, commissioning (or buying) and developing healthcare services for the 1.2 million people who live in Devon. The CCG is a membership body, made up of all the GP practices in Devon. They are led by a governing body of healthcare professionals – including local GPs, nurses, consultants and lay members – who ensure that we commission safe and effective healthcare services, within their budget
The Covid Inoculation bus needed to comply with current covid-19 pandemic restrictions, allowing for social distancing, they also needed a room for staff to process the visitors, we recommended RSP11 which, with the addition of steps for its emergency exit, allowed for a one way system on the bus, with the premise of one person outside, waiting to board, one in the waiting area and finally one in the rear consultation room receiving the Covid jab.
The CCG agreed that this was the bus for them and the booking was agreed.
The covid-19 inoculation bus was required by NHS Devon CCG to inoculate local residents within Devon, especially those in more rural areas and approached Roadshow Promotions to provide the right vehicle for the job.

After a number of discussions the inoculation bus was agreed and we set to work to brand and prepare the bus for its tour.
The bus has spent 4 weeks in Devon, being based in Newton Abbott but servicing locations throughout the county, including Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth and Newton Abbott has completed many hundreds of inoculations on people who would of struggled to reach mainstream inoculation sites.
Overall the bus was highly successful with comments from the onboard staff pretty much saying the same thing “I would like to say what a good experience working on the bus was and we definitely vaccinated many people who I believe would not have ever accessed any other method of obtaining the vaccine. It was a very worthwhile”
